Aladdin in DCA?

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

did anyone already see the "Aladdin"-musical in DCA?? There have been quiet a few reports on Laughingplace, MiceAge and Mouseinfo but so far none of them really said much about the musical side of the show (the new song, the voices of the performers, ...)...

And if I'm asking already anyway: does anybody know wether they planned to release the show on CD?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Saw the show, not many thoughts musically except how bad the new song is. At first I thought it was great that they added lyrics to exsting score, but it just doesn't work. The cadence is all off; it sounds like poetry that a kid writes, where they rush to fit the word into the beat, but at least it rhymes. Maybe it was just the performance I saw and will get better with repeat performance.
On a related note, is it true that (one of) the actress that plays Jasmine is DeeDee from the New MMC?

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

thanks for your thoughts X-S Tech .... it seems the new song is anything but a success - regarding this it was very interesting that the Sue Kruse of Mouseplanet.com said that to her it sounded as if Jasmine stole the song "Home" from Belle in Disney's Beauty and the Best - The Musical.

Unfortunately (just as the earlier review by Al Lutz on miceage.com) the very interesting and even handed review of Sue Kruse centers pretty much on the overall experience of the show so we are still left in limbo a bit regarding the musical quality, especially of the cast. But regarding the overall show based on the reviews I read and the posts on the message boards I have the impression that the show must be quiet good if you look at it from the viewpoint of an theme park show but not up to Broadway quality which was the aim of Disney according to their own press releases.

Is the "new" song the one they used for the "Disney on Ice" show of Aladdin?
It used the melody of "To Be Free" score track from the soundtrack of the film, and the words went something like "I just wanted to be free...". Not very impressive IMO.
