Adventureland Veranda Area Music

This topic piggybacks on the following thread: [post=27784]Looking for Rare LP[/post]

I decided to start a fresh topic with a new title, in hopes that it might get more participation. Anyway, I'm trying to figure out which tracks from George Bruns' "Moonlight Time in Old Hawaii" album were actually used in the later Adventureland Veranda loop. Since I've never heard the whole loop in situ, i can't even begin to match up tracks with tunes I remember hearing at the Veranda. I understand that the loop used other material as well, so it may be fruitless to guess...but at least it's a start.

Preliminary observations (now that I've listened to the record)...

I've bolded the three tracks that I know were used. Side one, tracks 2 and 3 apparently ran in order in the AV loop.

Side One:
  1. South Sea Island Magic
  2. Hawaiian Paradise (the tail end of this track shows up at the beginning of Adventureland Veranda Registers and Counter Viewpoint)
  3. Moonlight and Shadows (it's the track that comprises the bulk of Adventureland Veranda Registers and Counter Viewpoint)
  4. To You, Sweetheart, Aloha
  5. Paradise Isle
  6. Song of Old Hawaii
Side Two:
  1. Blue Hawaii (Adventureland Veranda Breezeway 1992 - the piece in the video is obviously Blue Hawaii, even if it doesn't match the album version...but it seems to)
  2. Moonlight Time in Old Hawaii (seems identical to the Ford Pavilion/International Gardens version released on the WF box set...no clue if the track was ever part of the AV loop)
  3. Sweet Leilani
  4. Aloha Nui Hawaii
  5. My Tane
  6. Ka Pua (The Flower)
Everybody knows Moonlight Time in Old Hawaii (it, Aloha Nui Hawaii, and Ka Pua were Bruns' original compositions), and some of the others are fairly recognizable tunes (if not exactly "standards"). Does anyone remember hearing any of these tunes in the Adventureland Veranda? :)

Thanks!

I tried to PM the OP of this original poster, but apparently he/she doesn't visit that often. I'm very interested in the Bruns/Hawaiian Strings "Moonlight Time in Old Hawaii" LP, but the only copy I've seen is about $78.00.

Is it worth it? I love Disney Music, and Tiki/Hawaiiana, so this intersection seems like a perfect fit for me, but that's a LOT to spend for one LP, without any feedback or samples.

One other ?? (slightly off topic): I apologize in advance is this is taboo to talk about, but I notice lots of discussion of "loops floating around". Are most swapped via Torrent? RapidShare? Are there other resources to search for them?

Thanks,

Scott

Rodentsections have quite a few loops (torrents) but only those that do not contain commercially available music in them.
There's quite a few of us from here who are also members there. If it's available (but not to buy). it'll probably be there.

As I say, anything with something you can go out and buy (even if it's only one tune from a loop) won't be there.

I got the album from a seller on musicstack.com for around 15 bucks. We have a digital turntable, so I was able to "rip" the vinyl for iTunesability.

It's worth having, but not for $78. :/

More info about the loop as I get it!

I just want to say thanks for sharing this. I finally listened to the entire album and it's fantastic (a very relaxing 38 minutes). And the pops and crackles brought back a lot of memories.

Sweet!! Thanks a million! At the risk of sounding greedy (and feel free to tell me to STFU), any chance for: Cover Art; and just MAYBE individual tracks? (edit: I see the track list up above. DOH!!!)

Like I said, I'm VERY appreciative, and don't want to seem that I'm not....this alone is GREAT!

Thank you, and I hope I can be of assistance sometime.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying it!

There has been some talk about splitting it up into tracks - if I don't do it, somebody else likely will. ;D When/if I get more information as to which tracks actually appeared in the AV loop, I'll totally do it.

I can scan cover art for all y'all sometime soonish. Here are some quick snapshots just for fun...

This is the Vault records issue; by the look of it, it's a late 60s/early 70s release. I have no idea if there was an earlier printing, and if there was, I've no clue who might have released it. I dunno much about Vault, but it seems like it might be one of those "cheap/reissue" labels, like Pickwick (which released the Rita Ford music box collection album back in the sixties or seventies - the album that the Main Street Christmas music box tracks come from). Judging by the "feel" of the orchestrations, the recordings are probably late fifties/early sixties. Given that the title track made the International Gardens loop, the material logically predates 1964.

Have fun! :(

Yay, Kali, thanks for ripping this for everyone. ^^ I own a few Hawaiiana records now and the Bruns is by far the best - very mellow and relaxing.

Mike at Widen Your World made a bunch of live recordings of the Bruns Adventureland Veranda loop in the early 90's - I'd see if you can get ahold of him. He's very busy and may not be able to get back to you, but it's worth a shot. I'd ask myself but he's already busy trying to get me the other half of his collection, lol.

Yes, I split the files and uploaded them last night. Someone else had done them and and was going to let me have the files to upload but didn't get around to sending them to me.
Now, a word of warning.
They are split into individual tracks but are NOT enhanced in any way - just split.
I did a few tests with Audacity and they cleaned up really well but I do rather like the vinyl sound myself so, if you don't. you'll need to edit them yourselves. You'll probably have to edit the tags etc as well. I forgot to do that, sorry, but at least I did name them and number them. :D

A big thread bump here, but does anyone have a suggestion of where to find George Burns's Moonlight Time in Old Hawaii record?

Ahhh, the Adventureland Veranda. I loved getting the teriyaki burgers there so much! I remember when I visited WDW in '93 I must have had one each and every day not knowing that it would be my last. When I returned in 1994 I was so sad to see it had closed. It wasn't until I went again in 1995 that the place had officially closed and I would never ever get a teriyaki burger again in the MK. BTW, my brother loved the teriyaki beef sandwich!

bump!

Since it's snowing in my hometown right now, and my mind's turned to the warm sun of a tropical isle, I'm curious . . . has any additional work been done on this loop? Is anything known beyond the Bruns tracks?

Does any information exist for the earlier Adventureland Veranda loop?

Nothing new on my end, I'm afraid. Hard to believe we've all been listening to "Moonlight Time" for nearly a year now!

Let me go at this from a different direction: Does anyone know of any live clips, recordings of any duration from the Adventureland Veranda? I know Mike Lee has two short clips to work from, but does is anyone aware of others?

Is there any music playing in the Veranda currently? The eatery is now open until April 10th, perhaps the BGM is still playing there.

I've already posed the general question, and I think Foxxy has too. I asked Mike, but got no response.
