Sounds good! How about an official release of Bruce Broughton's Honey I Shrunk the Audience/Imagination Institute theme?

disneyphillip,

That's a nice dream list for a new WDW Official Album. I guess MY dream would be that Epcot would get its own OA. The music from Epcot has been IMHO underrepresented since the late 80's OA that featured most of the main themes from attractions that have disappeared or were revamped in the 90's. While Randy has done spectacular work on the last WDW OA's, Epcot has a wide range of music that has not appeared. I realize space is very limited with 4 parks of material being represented on one 80 minute CD. And from a business standpoint I can't fault the parks wanting their OA packed with instantly recognizable tracks. There is no fault in logic that MK should comprise the bulk of the OA's. It'd be like a Greatest Hits record that didn't include all the big hits. I do, however, endorse choice. Music fans usually buy a greatest hits album because it has a couple of things that were made for the GH and aren't on any other album. They also own all the regular albums too. The Disney parks could use this logic and actually make TWO or more sales from a lot of people if they offered more choice. Specifically from Epcot, I'd like to see more than just "Golden Dreams" from American Adventure. Music and effects from Norway's Maelstrom, Spaceship Earth, Bruce Broughton's underscore for Ellen's Energy Adventure, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, The NEW Journey into Imagination, and a host of others could round out a nice 2 CD set of Epcot music instead of the meager few tracks an OA allows for. It does stand to reason that a 20 year old park could have its own CD. After all the year-old California Adventure was practically born with one. Even though DCA's official album is down to about 60% material that is recognizable or represented at all. It's become a nice document to rides, shows, and parades that have been relegated to a place in Disney history. Something to think about.

And Tokyo DisneySea isn't even a year old yet and it's got 7 CD's so far! It's about time for the American parks to start realeasing more.

Lookin @ these replies, mine seems to be a lone opinion.

I'd much prefer it if each time they released a CD, it didn't replicate the songs already released. I really don't want the same song on three or four different CDs.

Release a new album every 18 months, with new music! For people who haven't been before, keep the old music on sale as well.

They could of course go back to selling the Forever CD's, but i guess that's way too sensible :)

Has the music for "El Rio Del Tiempo" (Mexico)
ever been released on anything Disney ever
put out? I really love the music! Also has the
original (Walter Cronkitt) narration and music
for Spaceship Earth ever been released? -Mitch

"Wish Lists" are fine, but as we discussed on another topic a long time ago, they're ALWAYS going to make the same style of CD, aimed at John Q. Public, with MAYBE a few special nuggets that Randy manages to throw in to appease us . So in 2003, expect to see A Pirate's Life For Me, Grim Grinning Ghosts, Diggin' in Dinoland, It's A Small World, etc .
Again .

C'mon guys these are wishlists, why are we listing last years album with 3 or 4 additions? We should be listing our most unlikely, coolest ideas, so that Randy knows what we want, and leave it to the execs to water down and repeat the same old stuff. With the lists you have listed here, they'll see the stuff that's on all the other discs, that you felt obligated to put because you knew they'd put it on there, and they'll pat themselves on the back for knowing what the public wants so well, ignore you're less popular, less time tested, newer choices, and release the same old CD with this years parade. Remember to dream big! Let the other guy figure out how to get it done.

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

cool wish lists - let's all hope that some of the rare stuff finds a way onto the next Official Album (Randy?? ).

But going back to the initial questions of the threas: I think there will be a new Official Album for 2003 - or to be more specific at least a new packaged CD.
While DCA and DL Anaheim made sure with their release for 2001 not to make it obvious on the cover for which year the CD was released (even so the fan surely can date it thanks to parades, shows etc.), WDW once agan chose a year specific cover for 2002 with the "100 years celebration"-cover art. So I would assume we will see either a new CD or a new packaged old CD for next year.

Yours
Dirk
