20,000 Leagues Ride

Hello!
I am brand new to this board. I have been reading and catching up all afternoon.

I am very sad to learn about the Forever music system after the fact. I seem to remember seeing the kiosks but never got to use them. Is the system completely gone, and how long ago was it discontinued? If so is there any trading community for all that music? From this website and others it seems like it had hundreds of tracks!

Specifically, I was wondering if the audio from the old WDW 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea ride was ever released in any form.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Welcome. As far as I know, the forever system is completely gone. There are a few "reminents" if the stores still sell them, in the form of the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean cd's. Those were availalbe through the forever system in the same form. (Someone please correct me if i'm wrong) At the least, they were put out by the same company, RedDotNet. OT: RedDotNet is the same company that currenty provides the cd demo tech at BarnesandNoble.
As to a trading community, there were two projects on alt.binaries.multimedia.disney. DLF and WDWF. (Disneyland Forever and Walt Disney World Forever respectively) Between the two projects, all documented tracks were produced and shared. Many audio tracks that float around various p2p sources, are in reality, mislalbeled forever tracks.
For a full listing, check out http://forever.amber3.org/ According to that site, there were several 20k tracks released.
Hope that helps,

Skellington-

I don't remember dates or anything like that, but as far as I can remember, the WDW Forever CD kiosks came down slowly. I know that the ones in the Marketplace were the last to go and they were preceeded by the ones in Epcot (International Gateway). It took several months for all of them to go away. Pity too, because I kept putting my "major" purchase off, figuring "it'll still be there." Wrong. Sigh.

The 20K tracks that were on the system were the diffferent songs heard in the Background Queue Music and the Organ track that played on the attraction. The Captain Nemo narration by Pete Renoudet would have been awesome since Disneyland released the Sub Voyage narration, but alas...

Hi again,

I would like to say thanks a bunch to everyone who replied to my question. You sure are a kind and helpful group!
Anyway, thank you for directing me to the newsgroups. I didn't find what I was looking for there, but it led me to an IRC channel, where I found the audio for the 20,000 Leagues ride! Yay! It's almost like going on the little submarine again. So thank you so much!

Skellington~

Im curious, where would another interested party find this irc channel? Also, is the narration live or studio quality?

Thanks
mark

I'm interested too if archival quality versions of the 20K narration has gotten out. This attraction is among the four I miss most at WDW (along with "If You Had Wings", "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" and the original "Hall Of Presidents"). There is good quality video of the attraction that circulates on the net where the sound is quite distinct.

Not past puberty, they don't .

Well, at least not for 90-95% of the human population (depending on what study you read), anyway. And a percentage of that 5-10% like girls too .
