EPCOT Entrance Medley

I love hearing the EPCOT entrance medley on the new WDW 2-disc set. It really brings back the memories. is the current EPCOT Entrance BGM nearly as good? I have not been to the park since 2000.

I am really looking forward to next year's WDW CD with some of the updated music but this current WDW set is GREAT walk down memory lane.

Is this the original medley? I have always wanted a copy of that one. I had the nicest arangement of one little spark I ever heard. It was a neat, quiet orchestral arangement.

I don't have the new 2-disc OA yet, but if it is like all the previous OA's, the "medley" is not a medley at all, but just one track, "Energy," from the original 1982 medley/loop.

Right Dr. Know, it was just the one track. I would pay quite a bit for a nice restored version of the original loop. I have heard a nice "low-fi" version of it and it still holds up as one of the greatest loops Disney ever created, back in the days when they really cared about originality and quality.

I second that. That original medely was wonderful. There was so much to like in that medely. The quiet, haunting version of One Little Spark, the majestic Golden Dreams, the Americana feel of Listen to the Land, the still popular arangement of Its Fun to be Free, the soaring arrangement of Magic Journeys. This was some of the best music ever heard in the parks. I would buy any CD containing it in a heartbeat.

Who Composed the 1982 Epcot Entrance Loop?

[Merged topic "Who Composed the 1982 Epcot Entrance Loop?" starts here —Admin]

As the topic says, I'm just curious, Who Wrote the 1982 Epcot Entrance Loop?

It has been one of my favorite loops for a long time. I know that all of the music comes from the attractions that were present at the time, but who arranged the music.

Also, what orchestra performed the music?

Thanks in Advance!

That explains why I like all of the music from Horizons so much. Which scores did George Wilkins compose besides Epcot '82 Entrance Loop and Horizons?

Also, does anyone have any idea what orchestra played the music, or was it most likely just an unnamed studio orchestra?

Thanks for the info!

Dunno about the orchestra, but I do know John Debney (Spectromagic) had a hand in the Horizons BGM and attraction queues.

I also know Russell Brower created the Innoventions BGM with the original Epcot entrance loop in mind. He was very inspired by it, and wanted to write an updated, more electronic-y medley in deference to the original.

Wow! What a great list!

I'd love to meet that man someday. What a great composer!

I remember the fast paced orchestral music that had played at Epcot but cannot remember the name of it.

Here's a link (music in the background) of what I am talking about:

Admins, please remove this once I can get some help with the title of the song. I don't mean for it to be a long lasting thread lol. But if you must, go ahead and do whatever you want with it.

Sorry for the noobish question, just forgot what the title of this track was

Thanks!

do we know who did this loop? composed, arranged, mixed, edited, etc....

There is a part of the first cue of the 1982 Entrance loop ("Energy") that has a section that sounds as if it was lifted identically from a cue from Michel Legrand's score for the 1971 racing movie "Le Mans" which starred Steve McQueen. Listen to the EPCOT cue starting at 1:35 to 2:13. And then from this YT link to the complete score for "Le Mans" listen to 34:30 through 35:08. It's almost identical right down to the arrangement.
